Ketamine Assisted Therapy
Psychedelic therapy to enrich human experiences and address symptoms resistant to conventional treatments.
- Ketamine, originally developed as an anesthetic, has gained attention for its unique properties in treating depression, anxiety, PTSD, and other mental health disorders.
- Ketamine targets the neurotransmitter glutamate. Glutamate plays an important role in synaptic plasticity and mood regulation. By enhancing synaptic connections in the brain, ketamine promotes neuroplasticity, resulting in the rewiring of neural pathways associated with mood disorders.
- Research suggests that these freshly formed neural pathways contribute to building resilience against reoccurring depressive episodes. Unlike traditional antidepressants, which may take weeks to show effects, ketamine often produces rapid and profound relief, sometimes within hours to days after a treatment.
- Ketamine assisted therapy holds the potential to transform the landscape of mental healthcare, providing new avenues for healing and recovery.
- Ketamine therapy typically involves a series of intravenous or intramuscular injections over the course of over several weeks or months, with booster treatments administered as needed.
- As with any medical treatment, it is important to first discuss the potential risks and benefits of therapy with your healthcare provider.
